The Plains Trotters traveled to Florence last weekend to take on the Florence-Carlton Falcons. It was a typical spring day in Montana. “It was freezing out and snowing the first game, then in the second game, with the sun out, it got warmer,” said coach Kati Mitchell.

The Trotters were defeated 11-6 in the first game. They scored two runs in the third inning, three in the fifth and one in the seventh. Plains had four total hits for the game “We did very well, if our bats would have gotten hot we could have been very equal in both games. The girls went in knowing their bats needed to get going, but still struggled with the hitting,” said Mitchell.

The second game was a five inning mercy game ending with the Trotters losing 16-4. The first inning started out 2-2 but the Falcons took it away with 12 total hits to the Trotters five hits.

Plains Softball hit the road on Monday to take on MAC (Mission, Arlee, Charlo), losing 11-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning. It was a steller game for Maddy Blood, who hit a homerun over the centerfield fence. “Piper Bergstrom and Maddy Blood pitched a great game battling against MAC,” said Mitchell.

The Trotters had three hits to MAC’s 12. Mitchell said that on the field the girls fought hard defensively but struggled when it came to hitting the ball to the other team.

This Saturday Plains Softball team will face the Troy Trojans in Troy.
