Dorothy Arnoti passed peacefully from this earth with family by her side at the age of 91, on July 2, 2023.

Born in Rosebud, South Dakota, on January 5,1932, to Reva and Roy Halligan, she was number six of seven children. She was the last surviving sibling.

Dorothy met Donald Gable in Pasco, Wash., and they married in 1951. After moving around the country for a couple of years, they settled in Thompson Falls, Mont. to raise their children, Kathy Lee, Donald Glenn, Debra Louise and Robert J.

After the untimely death of her beloved husband in 1966. Dorothy moved her children to Portland, Ore., to be closer to her family. Especially her parents and her younger sister Jan, who she was close to her whole life.

While visiting family in Cottonwood, Idaho, Dorothy met Ladd Arnoti and they were married in 1972. She moved once again to begin a new chapter in her life. She inherited three more children in this marriage, Pete Arnoti, Ilse O'Neil and Ladd Arnoti, Jr. Family was everything to Dorothy and she embraced them as Ladd did with her children. Their home was a place where everyone was welcome and it was always full at the holidays and family reunions.

She was married to Ladd for 40 years, when she found herself a widow again. However, she was blessed with many friends, children, grands, great grands, nieces and nephews who came by or called to check on her.

She was very social and loved being a part of her community. She was a long standing member of the library board, working on the auction to raise funds, donating time to events like the brats and brew, buggy whips days and the raspberry festival.

She had a zest for life and a fun nature that inspired those around her. If anyone mentioned shopping, she could be ready in minutes. She loved going out for drinks and hors devours because that was more fun than dinner.

She had an adventurous spirit and was always up for something new. She learned to ski in her 40s and went on many ski trips with family and friends. Once she was convinced it would be fun to ride a bicycle across Lawyers Canyon trestle when she was in her 80's. She loved it! But her biggest passion was cards and as a bridge member for years, we all knew not to call her on bridge day or play against her in pinochle!

Dorothy may no longer be here in person, but her spirit will forever guide and inspire us.

Rest in peace, our sweet Dorothy.

Graveside memorial will be Saturday August 12, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Thompson Falls Cemetery.

Celebration of life will be Monday August 14, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cottonwood, Idaho. Reception to follow at the Cottonwood Community Hall.
