Volleyball set to take over

Teams from throughout the region will meet at the nets this weekend as two county schools are set to host district volleyball tournaments.

Hot Springs will host the District 14-C tournament on Thursday and Friday, while Plains will have home court advantage for the District 7-B tournament Friday and Saturday.

Thursday's 14-C action kicks off with St. Regis challenging Alberton at 10 a.m., followed by the home host Hot Springs facing off against Two Eagle River at 11:30 a.m. Charlo, the No. 1-seed, and Noxon, the No. 2 seed, both have byes in the first round. Charlo will play the winner of St. Regis-Alberton at 1 p.m. on Thursday and Noxon will face off against the Hot Springs-Two Eagle River winner at 2:30 p.m.

The District 7-B tournament opens Friday at Plains High School with a contest between Mission and Troy at 10 a.m., followed by Plains versus Superior at 11:45 a.m.

Eureka earned the top seed in the tournament and will play the winner of the Mission-Troy game at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, while No. 2-seed Thompson Falls will play the winner of Plains versus Superior at 3:15 p.m. Competition will continue through Saturday, with the championship match scheduled for 3:15 p.m.

Four teams will advance to the Western B divisional tournament, which will be played in Eureka November 3-4.

In District 14-C, the top two teams earn a trip to divisional, and the third-place team will challenge the third place team from District 13-C for the final slot at the divisional tournament.
